Just one change for Ikey Tigers

Thu, 29 Jul 2010 10:45:00 +0200

FNB UCT head coach Kevin Foote has made just one change to the Ikey Tigers line-up for Saturday afternoon's WP Super League meeting with SK Walmers.

Foote has wisely kept the changes to a minimum ahead of this week's clash at The Track - after his team's 19-19 draw with Hamilton's last weekend; a game UCT could easily have won after leading 19-7 in the final ten minutes.

In the only change to the starting XV, young hooker Matt Page - who made a great impact during the 2010 Varsity Cup - returns in the No.2 shirt as a replacement for Hanyani Shimange, who is on the Western Province bench on Friday night.

The backline is unchanged, with Tiger Bax once again pulling the playmaking skills from No.10 and forming an exciting 10-12 axis with the multi-talented Adrian Kritzinger (pictured), who - in turn - can rely on the power of André Coetzer on his outside.

In other changes to the UCT 22 - on the bench - Brad Gornall will provide hooking cover, whilst veteran Varsity Cup performer, Pete Haw, returns to provide his utility skills from the wood.

"There were some mixed emotions after the draw against Hammies... of course I wasn't expecting the game to be 100 percent smooth after a seven-week holiday," said Foote on uctrfc.co.za.

"We put some good phases together and looked hungry - the boys were also especially chuffed with the try [by Jody Burch - a great team effort]. Now we need to take it up a level against SK - especially away from home."

The FNB UCT team: 15 Ricky Rijs, 14 Paul Cohen, 13 André Coetzer, 12 Adrian Kritzinger, 11 Marcello Sampson, 10 Tiger Bax, 9 Scott Watermeyer, 8 Jody Burch, 7 Nick Fenton-Wells (captain), 6 Don Armand, 5 Levi Odendaal, 4 Mike Ledwidge, 3 Dylan Rogers, 2 Matt Page, 1 Ashley Wells.
Replacements: 16 Gornall, 17 Kemp, 18 R Jans, 19 Macdonald, 20 Hendricks, 21 Haw, 22 Winters.
